Dr. Sandra Citty is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Florida College of Nursing and Clinical Nurse Investigator at N. Florida/S. Georgia Veterans Health Administration's Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) in Gainesville Florida. She received her undergraduate and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Miami and her PhD in nursing from the University of Florida. She is board-certified family nurse practitioner and clinical nurse educator with over 25 years’ experience in clinical practice, education and research. She is passionate about improving health care outcomes and reducing complications for hospitalized patients. She published a critical review of literature in Advances in Wound Care Journal (2019) on strategies for optimizing nutrition care for pressure injuries in hospitalized patients. Her clinical research focuses on evaluating and improving the nutrition administration and documentation, specifically related to electronic health record and system processes in acute care settings and has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Nutrition in Clinical Practice (2020), Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (2020). Journal of Patient Safety (2017), and BMJ Quality Improvement reports (2017). She serves as a member of UF Health’s and Gainesville VA's Multidisciplinary Clinical Nutrition Committees and the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition’s (ASPEN) Clinical Practice Committee and Clinical Informatics Committee.
