Podiatric Surgeon and a Certified Pedorthist

Dr. Alison J. Garten is a Board-Certified Podiatric Surgeon and a Certified Pedorthist.
As a native of Cary, NC she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC where she played Division I tennis on a full scholarship. She then completed her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Garten then completed her residency at Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
She currently lives in Charlotte, NC and is a wound care panel physician at a Tenet Hospital at Piedmont Medical Center. Dr Garten is also a professional speaker who often is traveling educating others on topics such as limb salvage and wound care management. Lastly, she serves as a consultant/advisor for several wound care companies providing education and guidance on best practices for the industry.
She is immediate past President of the American Association for Women Podiatrists along with serving on the American Podiatric Medical Education Task Force for the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners. She is a past board member of the District of Columbia Board of Podiatry which was an appointed position by the Mayor. Dr. Garten was recently named one of the most influential podiatrists by podiatry management magazine.
In her spare time, she enjoys tennis, golf, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her one-year old daughter and husband. Her motto is “Your Health is Your Wealth”. This is what drives her daily to be a compassionate physician.
