My foundation of knowledge and board certifications lie in Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine, in my fellowship training and early career as a Hyperbaric Medical Director and Pulmonary/CC attending we offered and treated critically ill hyperbaric patients in the intensive care unit with mobile hyperbaric chambers at Norwalk Hospital. I have been practicing both Pulm/cc and hyperbaric medicine sinc 2007. Presently at Greenwich hospital, which lies on the New York state border, my main role is that of a wound care and hyperbaric physician, but I am still active in Critical Care. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, I was the critical care attending on call. In a matter of 12 hours we had to transform our small ICU into a COVID ICU and hospital. I saw first-hand the pathophysiology of the then novel virus’ impact on patient morbidity and mortality. I unknowingly had the training and acquired knowledge to understand and treat critically ill COVID-19 patients - because of my Pulmonary and Critical Care background and hyperbaric experience. non-intubated COVID patients.
