(P14) Autonomous MHK System

ORPC has developed a novel MHK power system which provides the ability to generate electrical power, combined with the ability to act as a propulsor, allowing the self-deploy. This is achieved by active pitch control of multiple crossflow turbines. This paper outlines the design process and initial laboratory test results. The development of such a system represents a unique means of powering and transporting subsea sensor systems.
