Gloria Maldonado is a Chilean Canadian Chemical Engineer with a Master’s degree in Biotechnology. She has over 20 years of experience in management, both in private and public sector, in various areas, such as: Construction, Life sciences, R&D, innovation, technology transfer, market intelligence and investment attraction, project evaluation, environmental management and applied consultancies in integrated management systems, process improvement and resources saving. Since 2019, Gloria Maldonado has asumed the challenge to lead Energía Marina SpA and its Marine Energy Research and Innovation Center MERIC, to promote the sustainable development of Marine Renewable Energies in Chile. Previously, she was Executive Director at Technological Innovation Center for Construction CTeC, which brings together national knowledge and global expertise to transform the sector’s value chain, towards a more productive, competitive and sustainable industry. Gloria Maldonado was also Deputy Director at the UC Innovation Center, in charge of the first university contract research office of Chile, developing applied R&D projects between the industry and academia. For 2 years she was the Executive Director of Precision Medicine Center of Excellence of Pfizer in Chile. She directed setting up of a new research facility and establishment of scientific and technological partnerships to raise the level of applied science done in Chile. For 9 years, Gloria Maldonado conducted implementation of sectorial policies at InnovaChile, with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship, within national and international networks, connecting needs of companies and developing innovation programs, contributing to an increasing competitiveness of the Chilean industry. Gloria Maldonado, has been in charge of foreign affairs, with Governments, corporations, technological institutions and world-class centers of excellence. She lead Chile’s Working Party on Biotechnology, to ensure Chile’s OECD entry (22 public services of 6 ministries).
