The Basque Energy Cluster is a non-profit organisation to foster competitiveness in the industrial sector of the Basque Country. Currently has 172 members: energy operators, equipment and component manufacturers, engineering firms, scientific-technological agents and Basque Government agencies. The mission of the Basque Energy Cluster is to improve competitiveness in the Basque energy sector, particularly in SMEs, by means of inter-company cooperation and public-private partnerships. The Cluster brings added value to its members in the fields of technology, internationalisation, talent, innovation and sustainability.
The brand "Wave Energy Basque Country" powered by the Basque Energy Cluster brings together leading Basque companies that have business objectives in the marine renewable energy sector. The Basque coast is ideally located for developing and testing marine renewable power generating devices (with two open sea testing facilities: Mutriku and BiMEP) and the alignment between business, research centres and government is translated into intense collaboration in R&D projects.
