Ifeoma Onunkwo graduated from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM in 2013, with a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. She is currently a cybersecurity researcher at Sandia National Laboratories. She has led efforts in network intrusion detection to prevent the spread of malware. She also leads efforts in the delivery of robust Distributed Energy Resource (DER) systems for DOE, Sandia, and commercial stakeholders. She has expertise in vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to assess the current level of DER network security. She has demonstrated vulnerability findings to stakeholders, including the use of emulated DER communication networks. She has also led the DER Cybersecurity National Sub-Workgroup on "Data-in-Flight Requirements" involving multiple DER operators and vendors in the US.
