Coming from a background in economic research, Michael Hibshman has spent the past four years in pursuit of new ideas and technologies to help smooth the grid’s transition from a centralized distribution system to a distributed, bi-directional network. His work has ranged from utility-scale renewable energy development to grid-edge DER optimization. His current project, Lumin, combines hardware and software to provide responsive load management at the grid edge.
