Is Solar Power to Gas (P2G) Ready for Prime Time on the North American Grid?
Wednesday, October 21, 2020
2:40 PM – 3:00 PM EDT
Is solar power to gas ready for prime time on the North American electric/natural gas grids? Attendees will learn about the two phases of a SP2G plant. First, solar power is converted into hydrogen (H2) gas using a H2 electrolyzer (HE). Second, a Sabatier reactor (SR) converts the H2 into synthetic natural gas. The synthetic natural gas is then injected into the grid. The speaker has developed a levelized cost of gas financial algorithm for a model SP2GP. In this session, attendees will see a test of the algorithm to determine if such a plant can produce synthetic natural gas on a commercial basis.
