The success of the Solar+ Decade hinges on the industry’s ability to develop and grow a diverse and skilled solar workforce. The solar industry has staked out a goal to exponentially expand solar to 20% of U.S. electricity generation by 2030. SEIA’s Roadmap for Building the Solar+ Economy identifies building a workforce that better reflects our country as a key action in the next 3-5 years that must be taken to realize this goal. Deliberate workforce development focused on a training-to-career pipeline and creating an inclusive and diverse solar workforce is key to scaling up the solar workforce needed to achieve these goals. In this session, attendees will learn about the common mistakes made by industry employers when growing their solar+ workforce. Attendees will leave the session with a greater understanding of barriers and challenges the solar industry must address to grow its workforce as well as actions companies can take while meeting their hiring needs.
