The Next State Of Energy Storage: GIGA Scale, Long-Duration

The largest battery storage plant currently being planned in Europe is not lithium-ion, but a cryogenic energy storage battery – a 50 MW/250 MWh clean large-scale energy storage facility that can help the UK achieve its goal of decarbonising industry, power, heat, and transport. This presentaiton discussion will focus on the technical aspects of a cryogenic energy storage plant and discuss the merits of cryogenic energy storage relative to other long duration energy storage options such as pumped hydro, and compressed air energy storage (CAES).
