Senior Director, Codes and Standards
Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA)
As Senior Director of Codes and Standards, Evelyn leads SEIA's codes & standards, environmental, health and safety initiatives, and permitting, inspection and interconnection. She leads SEIA’s work with several member groups - Codes & Standards Working, Mounting Systems Manufacturers, PV Recycling, Operations and Maintenance, Quality Assurance, DG Permitting and Installer Safety & Workforce Development. She co-leads SEIA's efforts on improving permitting and inspection through the SolarAPP platform and assists SEIA staff in energy storage, federal, state and regional policy development, land-use and agriculture. She is the lead SEIA participant in several U.S. Dept. of Energy grants focused on permitting, interconnection, industry education and workforce development (including veteran and transitioning service member recruitment).
Evelyn joined SEIA after over 25 years at UL LLC (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.), spending her last 12 years there in global renewables business management. She was instrumental in building UL’s solar testing and certification business globally, managing business development, market strategy and service portfolio development, including technical and service development of >20 solar-related product safety and performance standards for the U.S. and international markets. She held roles in international, regional and national business leadership, sales and marketing, and testing / certification. Evelyn has a BA in Social Sciences with an emphasis in Business and Law from the University of California at Berkeley and completed Executive Education in Leadership and Innovation from Yale University’s School of Management and the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. She is active in community service activities through Lions Club International in Northern California, with a focus on youth leadership in community service, the international youth exchange program and assistance to disadvantaged children and their families; she currently is serving in her local Lions Club District's executive cabinet leadership team.
