Linda Chitayapuntagul completed her undergraduate education at Virginia Tech with a degree in Chemistry and earned her minor in Interdisciplinary Science & Engineering. Through the Interdisciplinary program Linda presented her research, which focused on understanding and minimizing lead corrosion in drinking water distribution pipelines, at three different poster symposiums and conferences. Linda then went on to conduct and present additional research in synthesizing and analyzing the properties of silver nanoparticles at the undergraduate chemistry research poster symposium, winning 3rd place overall. From her research experience, Linda decided she loved the opportunities to apply science that engineering presented, and went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering, with a goal to pursue an industry career in a sustainability field.
Linda currently works at Standard Solar Inc. as a Project Engineer, where she has been involved with the early-stage design and development of efficient and cost-effective solar arrays for over a year. With a history of presenting research, Linda is very excited to work in a field that allows for interdisciplinary research and creative thinking to create new paths forward. She is looking forward to sharing her findings with her peers, and taking the first steps towards utilizing her training in research to help direct her pursuit of knowledge throughout her career.
