Andrew Matuskowitz, MD

Assistant Professor, Medical University of South Carolina

My name is Andrew Matuskowitz, MD, and I am an assistant professor at the Medical University of South Carolina. I completed a cardiovascular emergencies fellowship at the University of Virginia in 2015 then came to the Medical University of South Carolina where I served as the Chest Pain Center Medical Director for 4 years. During this time, I developed several standardized clinical pathways that are widely used by our ED providers and intended to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care. These standardized clinical pathways include chest pain, atrial fibrillation, and venous thromboembolism management. I now serve as the Emergency Department Information Technology Medical Director and am currently completing a Master of Science in Clinical Research degree. Moving forward, I hope to improve cardiovascular systems of care by standardizing ED workflows and integrating these workflows into the electronic health record using automated clinical decision support systems. Ultimately, I hope to use the best available evidence to assist providers with making the best decisions for our patients.
