Stephanie Slat is a Research Area Specialist at the University of Michigan focusing on improving treatment outcomes for patients with substance use disorders and pain. With the leadership of Dr. Pooja Lagisetty, she helps investigate how stigma and bias affect access to care for patients. Additionally, she works on expanding access to evidence-based treatments by improving the U-M Medical School curriculum around substance use disorder and integrating addiction and pain treatment into general medical settings. She currently serves as project coordinator for Dr. Lagisetty’s NIH-funded career development award, which aims to identify barriers to patient engagement in treatment and develop a clinical tool to reduce these barriers through enhancing shared decision making and motivational interviewing techniques. Stephanie received her Bachelor of Science in biology and political science from the University of Michigan in 2019.
