Dr. Ernest Garcia is an Endowed Professor in Cardiac Imaging in the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory and a full time researcher. His main area of research has been in the field of quantitative analysis of cardiac images. His techniques have resulted in six commercial products used worldwide for quantifying myocardial perfusion images. He is a member of the editorial boards of six journals. Dr. Garcia is a past President of the Cardiovascular Council of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, the 1996/97 President of the Institute for Clinical PET, the 2002-03 President of the American Society for Nuclear Cardiology and the 2003-04 Founding President of the American Society for Nuclear Cardiology Foundation. In 2006 and 2007 he was selected by the readers of Medical Imaging Magazine as a Medical Imaging Industry Top 10 Nuclear Medicine Researcher. Designated by the Better World Project for his leadership role in starting a successful company, spun off from academic research that has changed the world. Named Game Changer by Emory University School of Medicine for his role in the development of tools for the objectification of image interpretation. Named to the Council of Distinguished Investigators of the Academy of Radiology Research. Co-author of > 360 peer reviewed articles and 60 book chapters and Co-editor of 10 books.
