Zachary L. Bercu, MD RPVI, is Assistant Division Director, Innovation and Strategy, for Interventional Radiology and Image-Guided Medicine at the Emory University School of Medicine. He is an Assistant Professor of Radiology and has served as the Clinical Site Director of Interventional Radiology at Emory University Hospital Midtown for past two years. Dr. Bercu completed fellowhsip in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York in 2015. He has served as faculty at Emory for the last five years. Specific clinical, educational, and research interests of Dr. Bercu's include transradial interventions, complex venous reconstruction, interventional oncology, innovation education, the intersection between clinical needs identification and biomedical engineering, use of industrial and system engineering to facilitate clinical workflow solutions, and medical robotics. Dr. Bercu serves as Associate Program Director for the Emory Interventional Radiology-Integrated residency program and serves on the Georgia Center for Medical Robotics. In collaboration with colleagues from Georgia Tech and Emory, he is currently involved in innovation projects that include development of a robotically-controlled steerable guidewire and advanced image-guided technologies. His current and previous collaborative work has involved colleagues from cardiology, vascular surgery, vascular medicine, oncology, general surgery, transplant, and more.
