This paper presents a new speed control method for Switched Reluctance Motors (SRMs) based on Full Order Terminal Sliding Mode Control (FOTSMC). The proposed solution satisfies finite time convergence with external load disturbances, and guarantees the tracking error stability by using Lyapanov method. The method is applied on the three-phase 12/8 pole SRM at middle and nominal speeds using MATLAB/SIMULINK. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, controller response is compared with classic PI controller and conventional Sliding Mode Control (SMC) under no load and full load operating conditions. Simulation results confirm that the proposed method has higher degree of robustness against load torque.
