This paper proposes a voltage interpolation method in inverter modeling for fast EMT simulations of a power system. The method inserts an intermediate voltage in the inverter's AC voltage during switching transitions. As a result, it can simulate the inverter's AC current waveform accurately even with a large simulation time step. The proposed method enables to simulate the inverter's distorted current waveform accurately even if the simulation time step is increased to 7% with respect to the switching cycle. Then, the proposed method can reduce the computation time by a factor of 15 from the conventional method.
