The work under discussion is comparison of a configurable Two-stage boost LLC resonant converter which is being proposed with a conventional single-stage configuration for the MVDC integration of large PV parks. The proposed configuration is believed to overcome the issues with existing two-stage approaches. The dynamic variation in the input voltage to the converter is addressed and the entire converter is optimized to obtain higher efficiencies at reduced volume. Multi-Objective optimization is performed to analytically compare both the configurations and choose the best suit for this application. A new control scheme for synchronous rectification on medium voltage devices is also proposed. A 7kV, 25kW converter is built to validate the analysis.
