Active Neutral-Point Clamped Five-level (ANPC-5L) inverter is suitable for technical requirements of 1500V photovoltaic system. However, under the traditional modulation strategy, the topology has problems of level jump in the dead-time when the polarity of reference voltage changes. In this paper, a novel and reliable modulation strategy is proposed. Besides, to further improve the efficiency, this paper proposed an interleaved ANPC-9L topology and its modulation and control strategy, the circulating current of the topology is also suppressed. Finally, experimental results obtained with an experimental prototype are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed topology, modulation and control strategy.
