Mehdi Abbasi (S'11) received the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Isfahan University of Technology, Iran, in 2011. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at the Advanced Power Electronics Laboratory for Sustainable Energy Research (PELSER), York University, Toronto, ON, Canada. He is the author of more than 10 IEEE journal and conference publications. From May 2018, he has been actively contributing to research and development in SiC-based step-up converters at Northern Transformer Corp., ON, Canada. His research interests include high-frequency high-gain converters for renewable energy systems, soft-switched wide-bandgap based power converters and lighting systems.
Mr. Abbasi is a member of the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) and the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS), and a frequent reviewer for IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER ELECTRONICS and IEEE PELS sponsored conferences.
