Under Gaussian laser beam conditions (GLBC), multiple peaks are observed in the power-voltage (P-V) curve of a photovoltaic (PV) array, and a conventional maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm is not suitable for both tracking accuracy and tracking speed. In this paper, formulas of per-unit output characteristics of the PV array under GLBC are proposed, and a global MPPT (GMPPT) method based on fixed voltage control and P&O method is proposed. Experiments are carried out to prove the effectiveness of the proposed GMPPT method. The results show that this method can track the global maximum power point quickly and accurately.
