This paper proposes a secure, cost-effective, µPMUs-like metering method using the proposed blockchain-assisted smart (BAS) inverters for a BTM solar system. The proposed BAS inverter consisting of an IoT device as a node of a local blockchain network and a solar micro inverter enables to provide measurement data for grid services by sensed data, a power estimator in the inverter and send the encrypted measurement with a time stamp to a local blockchain miner. Once the blockchain miner generates tamper-resistant metering ledger including the measurements, it is used for the situational awareness of the BTM solar system.
