Thermal management is one of the most critical aspects of converters' table and efficient operation. Electro-thermal models are proposed currently, which are able to estimate their electrical performance and temperature simultaneously. However, with the increase of the switching frequency, the simulation time will increase accordingly. An effective way to solve this to adopt an averaged model of the converter. Since the conventional average model is neither frequency nor temperature dependent, a modified averaged electro-thermal model for a boost converter considering self-heating phenomenon of all devices is proposed in this paper. The advantages of this work are fast simulation speed, fairly accurate temperature prediction, and ease of construction.
