Solid-state circuit breaker, Dynamic voltage unbalancing issues
In the paper, a new medium-voltage solid-state circuit breaker named Diode Clamped Solid-State Circuit breaker (Diode Clamped SSCB) is proposed. Unlike the conventional high-voltage SSCB requiring the cascaded switches to be turned off simultaneously, the Diode Clamped SSCB trips the switching devices one by one to interrupt the fault current and do not have dynamic voltage unbalancing problems among the switches. In addition, an asymmetrical configuration of the Diode Clamped SSCB that can shorten the current breaking time is also presented.
