Voltage regulator (VR) for smartphone CPU and GPU applications need to meet fast dynamic voltage scaling (DVS) and load transient requirements. The best transient response is a time-optimal response. Prior arts to realize time-optimal or near time-optimal response involve complicated algorithm which need to be digitally implemented. In this paper, an improve V2 COT using state-plane trajectory control is proposed to achieve near-optimal transient response and a simple analog implementation is presented.
