Micro-generator, energy harvesting, fully integrated, PCB, GaN
A compact and efficient self-powered micro-power system, composing of energy harvesting unit and electric power conversion unit is the most promising candidate to support widely distributed information equipment to overcome the constraints of wired and portable power supply. This paper proposes a novel fully PCB integrated self-powered micro-electric generator for vehicle engine vibration harvesting. The micro-generator has the output of ± 752.7mV AC at 5Hz. An all GaN high frequency dual-boost AC-DC converter is employed with impedance matching for maximum power transferring. The peak output efficiency of the converter reaches to 83% at 3.3V/21.35mW output, which is much higher than state-of-art.
