A novel design of single-stage power factor PFC converter based on class-E2 topology is presented in this paper. The converter operates at MHz frequency with only one wide-bandgap GaN FET without other stages or cells, making it possible to reduce the size of the circuit. Frequency modulation control method is applied to decrease the harmonic distortion of input line current while maintaining ZVS at all operating points, which can reduce switching loss of the switch efficiently. Simulation and experiment are performed to validate the high performance of proposed system.
