The work presented is a Two-Phase Zero Inductor-Voltage Converter capable of delivering up to 70A of output current for input voltages of up to 60V. The ZIV converter achieves low reliance on magnetic components, as the voltage across the output inductor is only the ripple voltage, without the drawbacks associated with many Switched Capacitor topologies such as charge redistribution loss, sensitivity to component tolerances, and difficulty scaling to higher power levels. The prototype presented achieves a full load efficiency of 97.2% for 12V/70A output, with a peak efficiency of up to 99.1% and a power density of 2.5kW/in3, which represents a significant improvement in terms of both power density and efficiency over existing technologies for data center power conversion.
