This digest proposes a real-time cell screening algorithm to estimate the available maximum charging/discharging current of battery pack which can make all battery cells operate within the allowable voltage range. The proposed algorithm selects the cells whose terminal voltage is able to exceed the allowable voltage range, and estimates the available maximum current using the selected cells. The feasibility of the proposed algorithm is theoretically explained and verified through the experiment based on the actual 36kWh battery pack for the electric vehicles.
