Identification techniques have been used to measure the frequency response of a power converter oriented to control purposes, impedance measurement or health monitoring. In this paper the output capacitance of a DC/DC power converter is characterized in terms of capacitance and equivalent series resistance (ESR) measuring the frequency response of the converter. It allows to assess the aging in the component or to detect possible failures. One of the key points of the proposed approach is the comparison between the obtained measurement and the reference patters. Dynamic Time Warping technique is used to assess the matching between the measured and the expected frequency response, which is obtained by adjusting the values of capacitance and ESR. Simulations have been used to validate the proposed approach, while experimental measurements over a lab prototype confirm the promising results obtained theoretically.
