Topologies for Utility Interface Converters

In this paper, a novel sub-module topology based on RB-IGBTs is proposed to equip the MMC-HVDC systems with dc side fault blocking capability. The conduction loss of the proposed topology is compared with the existing topologies to show the high efficiency. The dc fault blocking capability of the proposed topology is verified by the simulation in the MATLAB/Simulink environment.
