Resonant converter, small-signal modeling, equivalent circuit model
A design-oriented equivalent circuit model for resonant converter is presented based on the results from the describing function modeling method. A methodology is established to extract adequate numbers of poles and zeros from the infinite-order describing functions. The reduced-order transfer function is visualized into an equivalent circuit model using Thevenin and Norton theories. The proposed model shows a good accuracy at half switching frequency. The simple circuit parameters provide strong insights to the operation of resonant converters, such as the RHP zero.
