Hip dysplasia is a common cause of lameness and osteoarthritis in dogs and cats. This lecture will focus on early diagnosis of hip dysplasia in juvenile dogs. Attendees will learn how to perform a proper orthopedic exam to assess the hips. Radiographic techniques will also be discussed. Conservative and surgical options will be presented and attendees will learn tips on decision-making to best treat puppies with loose hips. The lecture will also discuss options for treating adult dogs and cats with hip dysplasia and OA. Surgical options to be discussed include juvenile pubic symphysiodesis (JPS), double pelvic osteotomy (DPO), FHO and THR.
