Standing sedation is a necessary part of every ambulatory veterinarians’ practice as most field techniques are performed standing. This lecture will discuss methods to improve analgesia and sedation duration with standing techniques. When general anesthesia is required, there are several techniques that can improve the quality of induction, duration of anesthesia, recovery and analgesia for post-anesthetic care. This lecture will cover common and alternative approaches to this process.
