WVC 92nd Annual Conference
Technical emergency rescue of animal patients is a growing concern and local veterinarians are asked to aid with planning, response and recovery in these emergency situations. The rescue of large animals is a hazardous activity for which you need specialized training and understanding of the used equipment to have a successful outcome. These rescue training courses might not be available to everybody. However, there are multiple facets of large animal technical rescue that can be applied in our day to day equine practice. These facets increase the safety of ourselves, our staff and clients as well as improve the safety of our patients. In this talk we will discuss aspects ranging from reading the animal to analyzing the safety of the situation. In addition, we will demonstrate some assist/drag techniques as well as rolling the animal techniques that can be applied in every day equine practice.
