Standing Surgery: The Equine Head
With the help of adequate sedation and local analgesia, most surgeries of the head can be completed in standing horses. However, some of these procedures should only be done in referral hospitals, where, among other things, advanced imaging modalities and a sterile surgery suite are available. This lecture will focus on surgeries that can be carried out in the field by a veterinarian familiar with the pertinent anatomy and the basics of the procedure itself.
