Distributed mode loudspeaker for smart TV: objective and subjective evaluation of sound quality
The sound quality of proposed 5.1 audio system based on distributed mode loudspeakers technique (DML) for smart TV is discussed in the paper. Objective audio parameters sound pressure level, frequency response flatness and linearity compression of proposed 5.1 DML TV system audio system were tested and evaluated objectively by using Audio Precision test platform. Equalization process was performed to compensate natural bending frequencies of the TV screen. Subjective blind listening test of proposed 5.1 system against conventional down-firing TV loudspeaker system was conducted. The listening test of DML system vs. conventional one revealed better sound quality of proposed solution in a wide frequency range than conventional TV loudspeaker design in all categories of listening.
