Adrienne Bruce (Shannon), MD is a surgical resident (PGY-4) and first-year postdoctoral reseacher in the Department of Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Her interests include surgiacl oncology, cancer immunotherapy, and surgical education. She received her BA from Vanderbilt University in Molecular and Cell Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Child Development in 2012 and her MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2016 as a AAMC Medical Education Research Scholar. She works under the mentorship of Dr. Giorgos Karakousis and Dr. John Miura of the Division of Surgical Oncology to investigate clinical topics related to melanoma, colorectal cancer, sarcoma, and other skin cancers. Through collaborations with the Departments of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Medical Oncology, she is additionally investigating lymph node metastases and immunotherapy response in a metastatic melanoma mouse model to understand how melanoma-derived tumor exosomes alter the immunologic characteristics of the lymph node microenvironment.
