The Lilly Life Sciences Studio (L2S2) is a state-of-the-art facility located at the Lilly Biotechnology Center which physically and virtually integrates several areas of the drug discovery process together into a fully automated, cloud-based platform. The L2S2 Platform currently consists of 16 autonomous, yet interconnected, automated workstations (Modules) with applications that range from Compound and Reagent Management, Reformatting, Synthesis, Workup, Purification, Analytical, Biological and Biophysical Testing which enable a computationally driven and streamlined approach to the iterative Design-Make-Test-Analyze drug discovery process, commonly referred to as Idea-To-Data. The fully automated modules are physically integrated via a magnetic-levitated delivery system, while virtually integrated through a hierarchical automation software layer that provides platform-to-module management, dynamic scheduling, data collection for artificial intelligence, machine learning, and real-time decision making. This modular platform design creates the flexibility to quickly adapt and evolve the technology in order to meet the most challenging drug discovery demands over time. The L2S2 Platform is designed to be accessible via a cloud-based User Interface, opening up its molecular design and creation capabilities to research scientists around the globe.
