Katherine Kozak is a Senior Scientist in the Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology Department at Genentech. Her group currently supports the immune cell engager platform by developing cell based functional assays to quantitate in vitro activity and understand mechanism of action. Specifically, imaging-based screening assays have been established to quantitate kinetics of tumor killing by immune cells together with cytokine kinetics profiling. Prior to supporting immune-oncology projects, her group developed bioanalytical assays for antibody drug-conjugates, including PK, immunogenicity, in-vitro potency, intracellular processing and drug release, stability and MOA. Prior to joining Genentech, Kathy managed a biomarker discovery center at UCLA for predictive and diagnostic markers of women’s cancers. This was preceded by postdoc work on dioxin carcinogenesis at UCLA after receiving her Ph.D. in Mol./Cell Biology from UCSB.
