Dr. Eli Vlaisavljevich received his B.S. from Michigan Technological University in Biomedical Engineering. He also received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan, where he worked in the histotripsy laboratory under the direction of Dr. Zhen Xu. From 2015 to 2017, Dr. Vlaisavljevich worked for HistoSonics, a Michigan-based start-up company working on the clinical translation of histotripsy. Since August 2017, Dr. Vlaisavljevich has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Vlaisavljevich’s principle research interests include therapeutic ultrasound, non-invasive tissue ablation (histotripsy), cavitation physics, nanomedicine, drug delivery, cancer, ultrasonic neuromodulation, tissue regeneration, and acoustically-active biomaterials.
