Share your research with more than 700 professionals in the global IO community and gain recognition from your peers. There are no restrictions on the number of abstracts you may submit or on the number of submissions you may present. Additionally, SIO does not have a policy that limits prior presentation of data. SIO does not accept trials in progress or case reports.
All accepted abstracts will be featured on SIO-Central and recognized in the 2020 conference app. All abstracts will be eligible for Best Abstract awards in New Orleans.
The abstract character limit is 3780 (including spaces), with a minimum of 50 words, including any tables and graphs. Abstracts may be submitted for an oral, poster, or video presentation* and must include objective, methods, results, and conclusions headings. Please ensure that your submission contains significant scientific work, a major update, and/or significant follow-up on established procedures and/or research. Accepted abstract presenters will be notified in November 2019.
*Submit a video to feature a surgical procedure or tip and trick. Video submissions should be no longer than 10 minutes.
On rare occasions, presenters scheduled to present their poster fail to show up and have not notified SIO of the change in plans. When presenters do not appear to present their poster, the planning efforts of the Scientific Chair and Program Committee in providing a quality program are diminished significantly, there are significant cost implications, and the audience is unnecessarily disappointed with empty poster boards. Staff will audit all posters for no shows and this may result in ineligibility for future SIO meetings.
Acceptance of the abstract by the review committee obligates the author to be present. If circumstances prevent attendance, the author must arrange for the poster to be presented by a substitute, preferably a co-author. If you wish to withdraw your abstract, you must submit your request in writing by Monday, December 2, 2019 to firstname.lastname@example.org including the abstract ID, abstract title, and first author. Failure to comply may result in ineligibility for future SIO meetings abstract submissions as first author.
For questions regarding the abstract process, you may contact SIO via email or by phone 202-367-1164.
