Dr. Andrea Cardona graduated cum laude from the University of Perugia – School of Medicine. He spent his general cardiology residency at the University of Perugia - Cardiovascular Divison and graduated with honors. During his residency, he had the opportunity to spend one year at the St. George's University Hospital in London where he improved his research, imaging and clinical skills with particular focus on cardiovascular disease prevention.
Dr. Andrea Cardona successfully completed two years (2016-2018) of supervised training in cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) and cardiovascular computed tomography (CCT) under Prof. Subha V Raman direction at The Ohio State University. He directly performed several thousands of cardiovascular exams including post-processing, reconstruction, and interpretation of studies. He has obtained the prestigious level III certification of competence in CMR both within the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), allowing him to direct a lab independently. Additionally, Dr. Cardona maintained Level III competency in echocardiography including TEE. Dr. Cardona is actively involved in the CMR community; he serves in the Guidelines Translations Committee – Italian Chapter of SCMR, and serves as member of the CMR working group within the Italian Society of Cardiology. Dr. Cardona is also actively involved in the CMR educational field, he has participated as faculty/instructor in several cardiac MRI congresses. In May 2019, Dr. Cardona was responsible for the organization of an important congress in Umbria (Italy) hosting Prof. Subha Raman from The Ohio State University. Dr. Cardona is now cardiology consultant at the Media Valle del Tevere Hospital, (Umbria, Italy) where in few months since his arrival, he has established an important advanced cardiovascular diagnostics program, including state-of-the-art CMR diagnostic. Dr. Cardona is also Adjunct Assitant Professor at the Ohio State University, collaborating with world-class leaders of the CMR and CT field. Dr. Andrea Cardona has already published several papers in peer-reviewed journals, most of them as first author. In August 2019 Dr. Cardona was elected to the prestigious status of Fellow within the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (FSCMR) for having demonstrated "a distinguished level of professional and scholarly achievement, integrity and competence."
