Dr. Leopoldo “Leo” Rodriguez is the Medical Director of the Surgery Center of Aventura and Assistant National Medical Director, Ambulatory Division, Envision Physician Services. As a clinical leader, he chairs the Ambulatory Anesthesiology Quality Committee, which maintains a Continuous Education Program about best practices in the areas of patient safety, quality, regulatory issues, and support practice development activities.
Dr. Rodriguez is very active in professional affairs, he is the President-Elect of SAMBA., and he is also the Vice-President of the Florida Society of Anesthesiologists, Delegate of the FSA to the ASA, Vice-Chair of the ASA Committee on Ambulatory Surgical Care and Member of the ASA and SAMBA committees on Performance and Outcome Measures. He is also active in the development of future physicians and Anesthesiologists, as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, FL; as well as the HCA Anesthesiology Residency Program in Aventura and Kendall Regional Hospitals in South Florida.
Dr. Rodriguez earned his MD degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 1993 and completed his Residency in Anesthesiology as Chief Resident at Vanderbilt University with a subspecialty track in Pediatric Anesthesiology. Dr. Rodriguez is presently in his last semester at the University of Massachusetts Isenberg School of Business’ MBA Program. He is Board Certified in Anesthesiology, Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and Pediatric Sub-Specialty Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
