Jenny Castillo, MD is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine for Columbia University Irving Medical Center and an Attending Physician for New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Castillo came to CUIMC from Winthrop University Hospital after serving as the Medical Director of the Simulation Center. She currently directs the simulation education for the Emergency Medicine Residents. Dr. Castillo has had a growing passion for Physician Wellness and Resilience for the past 3-4 years. She is taking her passion and expertise for both simulation education and physician wellness to spear head a new initiative program entitled EDWell. As the Director of Wellness, Dr. Castillo is creating a program that focuses on individual, department and hospital wide wellness programs to improve resilience and decrease burnout.
Dr. Castillo spent her educational years in Philadelphia, receiving her undergraduate education Swarthmore College and her medical degree at Jefferson Medical College. She moved to New York City where she completed her residency at Jacobi Hospital Medical Center. Previously, Dr. Castillo has worked as an Emergency Medicine Attending Physician at Harlem Hospital, St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, NY, and Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, NY. She currently resides in Washington Heights with her husband and 2 children.
