Josie Acuña, MD, is an emergency medicine physician and assistant professor at the University of Arizona. She is a graduate of University of Southern California, received her MD from the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and completed her emergency medicine residency at Staten Island University Hospital. Dr. Acuña is a graduate of the University of Arizona’s Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship. Following completion of her fellowship, Dr. Acuña continued on at the University of Arizona as core ultrasound faculty and currently serves as director of emergency department ultrasound operations. She has authored several manuscripts and book chapters and has lectured at both local and national venues. Her current research focuses on residency and ultrasound fellowship education and new, innovative ways to utilize point-of-care ultrasound in the field of emergency medicine.
