Pavitra Kotini-Shah is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, Director of Resident Ultrasound Education, and Assistant Director of the Ultrasound Fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is a tenure-track researcher who recently received the BIRCWH (Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health) scholar award, which has allowed research on sex/gender differences in Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrests (OHCA) using a large national database called CARES. She is also interested in advanced echocardiography applications for cardiovascular emergencies, so is also using results from the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos (HCHS/SOL) Echocardiographic database to evaluate global longitudinal strain (GLS) as a predictor of adverse cardiovascular outcomes.
