Dr. Jeffrey Kline is Vice Chair of Research in emergency medicine and a professor of physiology at Indiana University School of Medicine. He is the present Editor-in-Chief of Academic Emergency Medicine and is the founding editor and Editor-in-Chief of Academic Emergency Medicine Education and Training. His research centers on thrombosis diagnosis and treatment in the emergency care setting. His interest in diagnosis centers on understanding how emergency clinicians generate hypotheses about the need to test or not test undifferentiated patients for pulmonary embolism. His research into treatment includes large-scale implementation studies of monotherapy anticoagulation to allow home treatment of pulmonary embolism in emergency care, and investigation of protocols to allow safer use of systemically administered fibrinolytic agents.
